“The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery”
– Mark Van Doren
Last week was my first time to experience the IDAL convention (International Decorative Artisans League), and it was a fantastic, welcoming atmosphere. To be surrounded by people with similar stories, experiences and a passion for painting all things beautiful was invigorating and lit an extra fire in me to continue sharing what I’ve learned in the decorative painting field.
Being the person in front of the room, instructing peers with equal or more experience is a bit intimidating, but the classes were very well received and hopefully everyone gleaned at least a few tips and ideas that will assist them in their painting businesses.
During the full day class – Fast, Fresh & Fabulous Profitable Finishes, I taught a selection of six samples which can be completed for clients quickly in just a few passes around the room. Everyone had favorites, and we discussed lots of color variations and ways to mix and match Faux Effects products to use to get the desired look.
Here are just a few examples of rooms that I’ve finished using these finishes
A huge thank you to the IDAL committee for organizing the event and all of the talented finishers who participated in my classes!
